I have always painted a lot of redheads - some with short hair, some with long hair. And the funny thing about my paintings is that no matter what the subject looks like in the painting, people always, always tell me that they look like me. They actually almost never look me so I've always thought that was just an interesting thing. Although I've been painting guardian angel portraits for ten years, I had never painted my own until about a year ago. The image in my own portrait has red hair. I realized I've been painting myself all these years after all. Not only is the subject me, but I've unknowingly painted my life's progress before it has actually occurred. This painting is one example of this. It was painted several years ago. She is communicating with a tree spirit and nature being. I have recently published a book of photographs these spiritual beings - Messages from the Lorax - available now.
